About Covy-Tucker Hill

Covy-Tucker Hill was established in 1971, in Cotati, California. Since that time we have bred and/or owned close to 300 champions; 60 Register of Merit sires and dams; 54 National GSDCA Select Titles and 13 different BIS German Shepherds; 2 Quaker Oats award winners; A US Grand Victor, and Grand Victrix, a Canadian Grand Victor and Grand Victrix, and Mexican Grand Victor and Grand Victrix; 4 Award of Excellence winners, Multiple dual-titled Champions with CD, CDX, UD's and Herding Titles.  Our Ch. Tucker Hill's Angelique CD ROM was awarded Select seven times, a record; and our Can. GV. Am/Can Select Ch. Hoheneichen's Conan Survival ROM was 5 times Select, another record maker. Angelique and her daughter, Grand Victrix 2 X Select Ch. Covy's Rosemary of Tucker Hill ROM and her son, Select Ch. Covy's Mazarati of Tucker Hill ROM, were all Highest Living Register of Merit producers. Mazarati's daughter is the All Time Top Producing German Shepherd Dam in breed history, Can. Grand Victrix, Am./Can. Select Ch. Covy's Altana of Tucker Hill,ROM who produced 3 X Select Am/Can Ch. Altana's Mystique, who is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the top winning dog of All Breeds in the history of the American Kennel Club. Ch. Covy-Tucker Hill's Manhattan ROM is the only German Shepherd to win Best in Show in the 136 year history of Westminister Kennel Club at Madison Square Garden. Twenty-Five years later that record still stands. "Hatter" is the winningest male German Shepherd in dog show history.

Our formula for breeding outstanding shepherds is: Intelligence and temperament first; health and soundness of working structure second; beauty of type third; and balanced, suspending movement and a long healthy life for all of our dogs. We love them passionately and wish to bring as much joy to other people's lives as our own dogs have given us. At the November 2001 GSDCA National Specialty in Perry, Georgia, we were honoured by the GSDCA Board of Directors as the first recipients of THE LLOYD BRACKETT AWARD which says on the plaque. "IN APPRECIATION OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENT AND DEDICATION TO IMPROVING THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BY HAVING CREATED A LINE EASILY RECOGNIZED WITHIN THE BREED." Lloyd Brackett was the owner of Long-Worth Kennels established in 1912 and prominent in USA into the sixities. As a breeder he established his own strain and produced more than 90 champions in only 12 years. A world record for any breed. He was affectionately known as "Mr. German Shepherd." We are so proud and appreciative to have been recognized in this way.

We hope you enjoy our website, and if you are looking for your next show prospect, or simply a companion to share your life with, please contact us, and we would be happy to match you with the perfect puppy.

About The Kennel Owners

Kennel Owners, Cappy Pottle and Gloria Birch

We have both served on the Board of Directors of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and co-authored the Red Book (a popular educational project created by Cappy from tabulating the show results of the 9 yearly GSDCA Regional Futurity/Maturity shows.)

We are licensed AKC judges and have each judged many Futurity/Maturity shows and Specialties in the U.S. and Canada. Cappy has judged the Mexican and 2001 Canadian National Specialty for German Shepherds and recently the 2003 U.S. GSDCA National in Daytona Beach. Gloria has also judged in Mexico and Canada and judged the 2003 Canadian National Specialty in Kitchener, Ontario, and was voted by the GSDCA membership to judge the 2004 U.S. National Specialty in Portland, Oregon.

We have attended dog shows in France, Italy, Holland and Japan, highlighted by many trips in the fall to the Sieger show in Germany. One of our most memorable international experiences was judging many different breeds including German Shepherds at a large All Breed dog show in Kazan, Russia which is 800 kilometers due east of Moscow.

We are active in all aspects of the sport. Cappy created the National Obedience Victor and Victrix awards and was the first woman and second recipient of the prestigious Lamar Kuhns award. Gloria created the National Connie Beckhardt "Breeder of the Year Award". We are the current Committee Chairpersons of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America Register of Merit (ROM) System for Bitches.

Our lives have been dedicated to the German Shepherd Dog!
